WARRANT

By the Minister of Correctional Services of the Republic of South Africa, by which the "Medal of Faithful Long Service Medal and Medal for Faithful Service" is instituted.

To all to whom these presents shall come:

Greetings!

WHEREAS I deem it desirable to accord recognition to Officials of the Department of Correctional Services, employed under the Correctional Services Act, 1998 (Act No. 111 of 1998) and the Public Service Act, 1994, who have completed prescribed periods of service in the Department of Correctional Services on or after the 22nd day of January 2026.

NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the powers granted to me to institute honours in accordance with the provisions of Section 85(2)(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 read together with Section 3(1) of the Public Service Act, 1994,  (Proclamation No. 103 of 1994), and Section 3 of the Correctional Services Act, 1998 (Act No. 111 of 1998), I hereby institute, with effect from the 22nd day of January 2026, a Medal which shall be designated and styled the Medal for Faithful Long Service Medal and Medal for Faithful Service, which shall be awarded to persons whose character and conduct have been irreproachable and who have completed ten years of qualifying service or subsequent periods of 10, 20, 30 and 40 years of faithful long service, or 1, 3 and 5 years faithful service by the National Commissioner, as prescribed in the Rules hereto, and which shall be reserved exclusively for the purpose stated and which should be highly prized by all officials of the aforesaid National Department,

I ORDAIN further that the Rules embodied in the Schedule hereto shall govern the design and award of the said Medal, as well as the annulment, forfeiture and restoration.
