Department of Employment and Labour

Notice is hereby given, in terms of section 73(4) of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, 1993 (Act No. 130 of 1993), as amended, that the implementation of mandatory registration of third parties transacting with the Compensation Fund has been delayed.

In terms of section 73(4) (a) and (b) all third parties transacting with the Compensation Fund shall within 6 months of the date on which the amendments came into effect, register with the Compensation Fund.

The Compensation Fund is finalising the online processes to enable third‑party registration. The finalisation and implementation of these processes was envisaged to be completed prior to the approval of the published regulations.

Accordingly, the effective date for compulsory registration of third parties with the Compensation Fund is deferred to 1 January 2027.

The Compensation Fund will communicate progress updates and conduct stakeholder engagement and advocacy sessions during the interim period.
